Specialized construction from the point of catchment
A mineral-water well is not a conventional drilling job.
The catchment must preserve the natural characteristics of the water, prevent contamination and meet the rules for mineral and table water.
In Brazil, mineral-water research and mining follow the National Mining Agency (ANM): research authorization, geological, hydrogeological and hydrochemical studies, geophysics, construction of the catchment, physical-chemical and bacteriological analyses, pumping tests and a mining concession.
The well is designed for aquifer capacity, sanitary protection and preservation of the natural properties of the water. ANM rules require the catchment to protect chemical, physical-chemical and microbiological characteristics.
Construction design, materials, casing, protection, pumping, hygiene, monitoring and access for maintenance are considered from the start. Pumping tests assess behavior, efficiency and production capacity.
The current rules were consolidated by ANM Resolution 193/2024, in force since January 2025.
AS Águas combines drilling, geophysics, hydrogeology, pumping systems and water infrastructure. Each construction decision considers the aquifer, the regulation and the natural quality of the water that will be produced.
